Claudia (Garnet) has been studying and performing
belly dance since 1998, in Italy and the US, forming a
dance oriental and cabaret background. She was born and
raised in Milan, Italy, where she studied belly dance
at the local Magica club, learning a form of joyful,
spontaneous and natural expression with dance oriental
background. When she moved to the Bay Area in 2000,
she studied different forms and styles of belly dance,
particularly double veil, which became her specialty
and favorite form of meditation. Claudia lives in
Santa Cruz with her husband Kevin and beloved cat
Skid, works for Hewlett Packard and teaches double
veil workshops in local venues. She has been part of
Jewel of Opar since its inception in 2004.
