Kathy Gonzalez, also known as Baseema the smiling one,
feels most alive when she is dancing. She has been
studying Oriental dance for about five years, first
with Helene, later with Alyne, and currently with
Shaheen. She has been a member of Jewel of Opar since
its inception in 2004, and she often dances at
Hookahdome events for her Burning Man group.
Most of Kathy's days, she is known as Ms. Gonzalez, freshman English teacher at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, where she tries to infect teenagers with a love for learning. Kathy also loves to travel, particularly to Venice, Italy. In 2003 she published the book Free Gondola Ride about Venetian gondoliers (see http://www.freegondolaride.com). Furthermore, Kathy has shown her photographs at small venues. Kathy also finds time to be the Vice President of the Astonished Man Fan Club (see http://www.astonishedman.net). Kathy lives in San Jose with her partner RJ, their cat Simone, and their three bears: Genevieve, Abraham, and Zorba. |
